### How often?
Most patients do well with a cleaning and exam every six months. If you're prone to gum issues or have other risk factors, we may suggest a more frequent schedule and explain why.

- How long does a cleaning appointment take?
- Most routine cleaning and exam visits take about 45 to 60 minutes. Your first visit may run a little longer so we can review your history and take any needed X-rays.
- Will the cleaning hurt?
- Cleanings are usually comfortable. If your gums are sensitive or inflamed, you may feel some tenderness — let us know and we'll adjust our approach.
- At what age should my child have their first cleaning?
- We generally recommend a first dental visit by age one or within six months of the first tooth coming in. Early visits are short and focused on making the dentist a friendly, familiar place.
